Literature Review : ANIMAL FARM.

Quick Summary:

"Animal Farm" is a classic novel about a group of farm animals who rebel against their human owner, Mr. Jones, and take control of the farm. The animals create a new society where all animals are equal and work together to support each other. However, over time, the pigs, who have taken on leadership roles, become corrupted by power and begin to oppress the other animals. Eventually, the farm becomes just as oppressive as it was under Mr. Jones, and the animals realize that their rebellion has been a failure. The novel is a commentary on the dangers of totalitarianism and the importance of freedom and equality.

Leading characters and their roles

Old Major: An aging boar who inspires the animals to rebel against their human oppressors with his speech about animal rights and freedom.

Napoleon: A Berkshire pig who becomes the leader of Animal Farm after the rebellion. He is initially a fair and efficient leader, but over time becomes corrupted by power and becomes a dictator.

Snowball: Another pig who is initially a leader of the revolution alongside Napoleon. He is intelligent and idealistic, and advocates for the betterment of all animals. However, he is eventually ousted by Napoleon and becomes the subject of propaganda and scapegoating.

Boxer: A loyal and strong horse who becomes a symbol of the working class. He is hardworking and committed to the cause but is ultimately betrayed by the leaders of the revolution.

Squealer: A pig who serves as Napoleon's propaganda officer. He is skilled at manipulating language to justify the pigs' actions and convince the other animals to follow the leaders.

Mr. Jones: The original owner of Animal Farm who represents the ruling class in society. He is overthrown in the revolution but serves as a cautionary tale for the animals about the dangers of power and oppression.

These characters and their actions serve as allegories for real-world political leaders and movements, and the novel ultimately warns against the dangers of totalitarianism and the abuse of power.
